Global Biotechnology Forum. Patrick Moore, a founder of Greenpeace and, more recently, of Greenspirit, will give the keynote address during this roundtable event, which brings together biotechnology and economic development leaders from Europe, Asia and North America to discuss the industry's international challenges.
11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., South Building, Room 713
Media Brunch. BIO welcomes reporters with a brunch featuring daiquiris made with the biotechnology-enhanced papayas that helped save the Hawaiian papaya industry. Journalists will have an opportunity to learn about cutting-edge Canadian biotech companies that are developing clean fuels, drought- and disease-resistant crops, foods that deliver vaccines and other medications, and food packaging that detects contamination. Speakers are Patrick Moore (see above) and Pennsylvania Gov. Mark Schweiker.
11 a.m. - 4 p.m., Fairmont Royal York Hotel
Career Advances. Hundreds of job seekers are expected to converge on this career fair for the opportunity to talk to recruiters from more than 50 companies and attend seminars on biomedical careers and job-search strategies.
