BIO Announces New Networking and Collaboration Forum at 2010 BIO International Convention
“We recognize the critical need for bringing together the tech transfer community for networking and discussions focused on licensing, collaborations and academic partnerships,” said Jim Greenwood, president and CEO of BIO, the producer of the BIO International Convention.
The BIOPark, hosted by AUTM, AURP, and LES, will provide an ideal location for critical discussions on intellectual property, meeting complex licensing goals, research solutions, partnering, collaborations and more. The program is best suited to small companies, contract research, universities with incubator services, tech transfer offices, research centers, and academics.
Also new this year, the Contract Services Summit will highlight the rising costs of research and development and manufacturing of products, which is a major challenge for biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. Session topics include BioDesigned Vaccines for Pandemic and Swine Flu, Achieving FDA Approval for an IND for First in Human Trials, and Deriving Value from Benefit and Risk Sharing Agreements from CRO-Pharma-Bio Partnering Deals. The summit will be held Tuesday, May 4 from 1:00 pm – 4:30 pm. The Contract Services Summit is organized by Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology News and will take place in the BIOPark.
In addition to BIOPark and session events, the 2010 BIO International Convention will provide opportunities to educators and students to meet, network, and explore opportunities for universities and biotechnology. Students, post-docs and professors are encouraged to attend the BIO Career Fair on Monday, May 3, from 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm. The annual career fair includes more than 50 exhibitors and provides attendees with a unique opportunity to network with bioscience companies from around the globe.
The Technology Transfer Symposium, held in conjunction with the 2010 BIO International Convention, is a half-day event that will explore the role of universities and technology transfer in the innovation economy. Speakers, including top university and company representatives, investors and thought-leaders, will explore what challenges and opportunities exist in the interface between the private and public sector. The Technology Transfer Symposium, co-hosted by AUTM and BIO, will take place Tuesday, May 4 from 2:00 pm – 5:30 pm at the Hyatt McCormick Place.
