Washington, D.C. (September 17, 2015) – Today, the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) calls on biopharmaceutical, business development, life sciences and policy experts to submit thought-provoking and timely proposals for sessions and speakers at the 2016 BIO International Convention. BIO 2016 will be held June 6-9, 2016 in San Francisco, California.

“We are planning to make this year’s event our best Convention ever by providing attendees with the education and inspiration to help advance the next generation of breakthrough technologies,” said Scott Whitaker, President of the BIO International Convention. “We rely on submissions from industry experts to help us create sessions that will share promising research developments, policy analysis, and the latest on developments transforming the global industry.”

The BIO 2016 program will address a wide variety of topics relevant for the biopharmaceutical industry and related sectors, including healthcare, intellectual property, environmental issues, business development, cross disciplinary issues, and more. Prospective session organizers are encouraged to submit comprehensive proposals with suggestions for panelists. Preference will be given to session proposals that foster interaction.

New this year, BIO is inviting all prospective speakers to submit their credentials during the BIO 2016 Call for Sessions & Speakers. Upon completion of the proposal review process, the BIO 2016 Program Committee will evaluate submitted speakers’ expertise. Qualified speakers will be considered to fill remaining slots in their knowledge area. Note: Proposal submissions will be given priority in the review process. To be considered submit your name, bio, and focus area of your expertise.

All submissions will be peer-reviewed by the Convention Program Committee, which includes both domestic and international industry professionals, editors from major publications, and BIO staff. The Call for Sessions will be open September 17-October 15. The session proposal guide, sample proposal form, list of potential topic areas and more can be found at convention.bio.org/pitch.
