Jerry Flint Elected Chair of BIO’s Food & Ag Governing Board

Washington, D.C. (March 21, 2014) – The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) is pleased to announce that Jerry Flint, Ph.D., Vice President of Biotech Affairs and Regulatory for DuPont Pioneer has been elected Chair of the organization’s Food and Agriculture Section Governing Board.

Flint succeeds Jerry Steiner, formerly Executive Vice President of Sustainability and Corporate Affairs at Monsanto, who retired last year.

 “Jerry Flint brings strong leadership, vision and passion to agriculture and technology that will enhance BIO’s advocacy mission not only today, but in the years ahead,” said Cathy Enright, BIO’s Executive Vice President for Food and Agriculture. 

“Throughout his 20-plus year career, Jerry has served our industry by working with growers, scientists, business leaders and government officials to promote the science and benefits of agricultural biotechnology.”

In his role at DuPont Pioneer, Flint overseas a global, integrated team focused on delivering new plant biotechnology from the R&D pipeline to the commercial business, and ultimately, to the hands of farmer customers. He also is currently serving as the interim vice president of Agriculture Biotechnology, which encompasses all research strategy, discovery and development associated with new biotech products and processes at DuPont Pioneer. Flint holds a Bachelor of Science in agriculture from Purdue University and a Master of Science and doctorate in crop science from the University of Kentucky.

BIO is also pleased to announce that Eddie J. Sullivan, Ph.D., Vice President of Business Development and Government Relations for Sanford Applied Biosciences, LLC, was elected Vice Chair.  Matthias Meder, Vice President of BASF Plant Science LP, was elected Secretary of the Board.
