Key Leaders from Canadian R&D Scientists to Discuss Biomass Sustainability at 2015 BIO World Congress
Washington, D.C. (June 03, 2015) – The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) is pleased to announce the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) will participate in numerous breakout sessions highlighting the environmental and economic sustainability of Canadian biomass during the 2015 World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology. This year’s conference will be held July 19-22, 2015 at the Palais des congrès de Montréal in Montreal, Quebec.
The National Research Council will have key members lead the Generating More Value from Canadian Biomass and Waste Streams breakout session. This session is part of the Specialty Chemical, Food & Nutritional Ingredients Track and will include:
- Dr. Bob Chapman, Program Leader of NRC’s Natural Health Products program
- Dr. James Johnston, Program Leader of NRC’s Bio-based Specialty Chemicals program
- Dr. Stephen O’Leary, Director of NRC’s Algal Carbon Conversion program
Research Officer Dr. Minh-Tan Ton-That from NRC’s Industrial Biomaterials program will participate in the Clustered Research and Development of Ag-Based BioProducts breakout session. NRC Technical Officer Jean-Claude Frigon will partake in the Advances in Oil Producing Crops and Algae Based Feedstocks breakout session.
BIO’s World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology is the world’s largest industrial biotechnology conference that brings together from across the globe business leaders, investors, academics and policymakers in the biofuels, biobased products, renewable chemicals, synthetic biology, food ingredients and biomass sectors. Industrial and environmental biotechnology is at the forefront of the biobased economy, generating good-paying jobs and making cleaner products and processes.
