Dry Joins BIO As Director Of Communications

WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 6, 2000) -- Lisa J. Dry has been named Director of Communications for the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO). She will assume responsibility for representing foods and crops derived through biotechnology to the media and the public.

Dry comes to BIO with 20 years’ experience in agriculture and food safety issues and has held similar positions at the Animal Health Institute and National Pork Producers Council.

BIO President Carl B. Feldbaum believes Dry will make significant contributions to furthering BIO's goal of increasing public awareness of the role of biotechnology in agriculture:

Having grown up on a family farm, Lisa understands and appreciates the importance of new technology and how it serves society in strengthening crops, improving farming techniques and aiding the environment. It is vital that we are able to articulate the benefits of this technology to consumers so that we may continue to provide U.S. citizens the safest, most abundant and affordable food supply in the world. Lisa brings solid communications skills and a strong commitment to helping us achieve this goal, Feldbaum said.

Dry graduated from Southeast Missouri State University, with a degree in journalism and did post-graduate study at New York University.

Prior to moving to Washington, she worked at American Cyanamid Company and with New York advertising and public relations firms. As a Missouri native, Dry retains an interest in her family’s cotton farm.

BIO represents more than 900 companies, academic institutions and biotech centers in 47 states and 26 nations. BIO members are involved in the research and development of healthcare, agricultural, industrial and environmental products.
