Delaware Official Named BIO State Executive of the Year
Toronto, June 12, 2002 – Bob Dayton of the Delaware Department of Economic Development, was presented with the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) State Executive of the Year Award today at the BIO 2002 Convention in Toronto, Ontario.
“Bob is being recognized for his years of service and support of Delaware’s growing biotechnology industry,” said Patrick Kelly, BIO’s director of state government relations, during a presentation ceremony at the Toronto Convention Centre. “Bob has been a stalwart advocate of the biotechnology industry in Delaware. He has worked closely with BIO and the Delaware Biotechnology Institute to help develop the state’s reputation as a center of excellence for biotechnology research and development.

“Next year, the state of Delaware will co-host the BIO 2003 Convention in Washington, D.C., with the states of Maryland and Virginia,” said Kelly. “We expect to improve our already excellent working relationship with Bob and the state of Delaware to make the BIO 2003 convention the largest meeting in the industry’s history.”
The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) represents more than 1,000 biotechnology companies, academic institutions, state biotechnology centers and related organizations in all 50 U.S. states and 33 other nations. BIO members are involved in the research and development of health-care, agricultural, industrial and environmental biotechnology products.
