BIO 2003 to Feature Panel on Biotechnology and the Law
The event, entitled “Biotechnology: Where the Science Meets the Law” will feature a discussion on the scientific, legal and ethical information needed by the courts to help them separate science fact from science fiction.
“Biotechnology is a fast-paced industry discovering new science every day and we have to examine how the courts can transition along with the modern day technologies,” said Lila Feisee, BIO’s director of intellectual property. “The biotech industry must work with the judicial system to ensure that legal professionals and the public have access to the most current science available.”
“The Bio Judiciary Project provides a unique opportunity for the entire biotechnology community to come together and create a resource of first resort for the judiciary and others focused on the intersection of science and the law,” said Leslie Platt, Ernst & Young LLP principal and Project co-chair. “The Roundtable is part of an ongoing series exploring biotechnology legal and ethical issues that we hear about daily in the news.”
