BIO Names Dana O’Brien Executive Vice President for Food & Agriculture Section
Washington, D.C. (October 13, 2016) – The Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) announced today that Dana O’Brien has been named BIO’s Executive Vice President for its Food & Agriculture Section.
“We are pleased to announce that, effective today, Dana O’Brien will be BIO’s new Executive Vice President for Food & Agriculture,” said BIO President and CEO Jim Greenwood.
“We have tremendous confidence in Dana’s abilities and leadership, having named him Acting EVP in July of this year. We’re proud to announce that appointment will be permanent, and we know he will continue to do a great job at advancing the Food & Agriculture Section’s priorities into the future.”
“We have worked with Dana for several years in his previous capacities within the Federal Government Relations team,” said Eddie Sullivan, President and CEO of SAB Biotherapeutics, and Chair of BIO’s Food & Agriculture Section Governing Board. “We look forward to working with him further on issues of tremendous importance to the future of food and agriculture in our nation and around the world.”
O’Brien served as BIO’s Senior Director of Federal Government Relations since March 2011, where he helped represent the biotechnology industry’s interests in the development and passage of the National GMO Disclosure Bill, signed into law by President Obama on July 29.
Prior to BIO, O’Brien was Legislative Director for the late Congressman Ike Skelton (D-MO), concentrating on agriculture, energy, trade and foreign policy issue areas. A native of Sedalia, Missouri, and a graduate of the University of Missouri with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, Dana joined the Skelton team immediately out of college and served there for nearly 14 years.
