Partnering Opens for 2014 BIO International Convention With Record Number of Meetings Expected

Washington, D.C. (April 3, 2014) –  The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) today announced that the One-on-One Partnering™ system is now open for the 2014 BIO International Convention^®, taking place in San Diego from June 23-26. One-on-One Partnering™, which enables companies to initiate business contacts and schedule private meetings at the Convention, will take place for three full days from Tuesday, June 24 through Thursday, June 26. The Convention attracts the biggest names in biotech, regularly draws 15,000 attendees, offers key networking and partnering opportunities, and provides insights and inspiration on major trends affecting the industry.

“This year’s Convention is set to break all previous partnering records, with over 28,000 meetings expected to take place,” said Scott Whitaker, President of the BIO International Convention. “Effective deal-making is as important as the science and regulatory landscape when it comes to achieving BIO’s goals: healing, feeding and fueling the world. More than 3,000 companies are expected to participate in One-on-One Partnering™ meetings, which will take place in the BIO Business Forum™ as well as in the BIO Exhibition. Companies from over 60 countries will be represented.

The BIO Business Forum has grown over the past thirteen years to become the industry's largest partnering event, hosting a record breaking 25,500+ partnering meetings in 2013.   In 2013, exhibitors hosted 5,430 in-booth meetings and ranked in-booth partnering and global networking as the biggest exhibitor benefit. Nominations are now being accepted for the 2014 Buzz of BIO contest, which recognizes noteworthy companies in the Pipelines of Promise and Technologies of Tomorrow categories.
