BIO Thanks USDA for Commitment to Building Renewable Fuel Infrastructure
Washington, D.C. (June 1, 2015) – The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) today thanked Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and the U.S. Department of Agriculture for making available grants to states to expand infrastructure for biofuels. The announced grant money from the Commodity Credit Corporation will match state funding over the next two years.
Brent Erickson, executive vice president of BIO’s Industrial & Environmental Section, stated: “We thank Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and USDA for taking a positive step toward opening the market for homegrown, cleaner biofuels and ending U.S. reliance on foreign oil. Assisting fuel retailers in expanding choices for consumers at the pump is a constructive contribution to building U.S. energy independence.”
