Engage with BIO Alliance Development

BIO Alliance Development facilitates partnerships between the biotechnology industry and third party stakeholders on areas of mutual interest, including policy initiatives, special projects, and educational events.  Some examples of recent collaborations can be found below:

  • BIO and the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) worked together to develop a white paper which highlights the societal and economic benefits of the Orphan Drug Tax Credit.  Read more about the project here

  • BIO and Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD) teamed up to share best practices for the development of disease-specific patient preference studies, based off of the PPMD experience.  The paper outlines key considerations to help guide stakeholders on the development of patient preference studies and the multitude of ways they can be used, including to help inform the drug development and regulatory processes.  Download the paper here

  • BIO and the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation (UMDF) partnered on a half-day Forum entirely focused on mitochondrial disease at the 2016 BIO International Convention.  BIO and UMDF convened thought leaders from the mitochondrial disease patient community, academia, industry, and government for a Mitochondrial Disease Forum to examine the challenges and opportunities that exist in mitochondrial disease research.  Read a summary of the Forum here

BIO and its members share a commitment to discovering and developing innovative medicines to fight and cure disease and improve the lives of patients.  In an effort to achieve our shared goals of bringing new treatments to patient, BIO and its members often work together with patient advocacy organizations to better understand the patients we serve, to help raise awareness and understanding of a disease, and to advance patient-focused public policies.  BIO and its members are proud of the many collaborations they have with the patient advocacy community.  To ensure that these collaborations respect the independence of all partners and are built on integrity and trust, BIO developed a set of guiding principles which reflect these values to help inform interactions with BIO members and the patient advocacy community.  Read BIO's Guiding Principles for Interaction with Patient Advocacy Organizations here
