BIO Launches New Report Profiling 100 Renewable Chemical Technology Companies

BIO's new “Renewable Chemical Platforms Building the Biobased Economy” report documents the rapid expansion of renewable chemical platforms and applications around the world, profiling 100 companies from 16 countries that are commercializing renewable chemical applications.

The Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) today released a new report, “Renewable Chemical Platforms Building the Biobased Economy,” to document the rapid expansion of renewable chemical platforms and applications around the world. The report profiles 100 companies located in 16 countries – from small startups to large brand manufacturers – that are commercializing renewable chemical applications.

Brent Erickson, executive vice president of BIO’s Industrial & Environmental Section, states, “BIO’s new 2018 report, “Renewable Chemical Platforms Building the Biobased Economy,” documents the contribution that 100 companies are making to rapid growth of the biobased economy. On a global scale, BIO estimates the value of biofuels, renewable chemicals and polymers, enzymes, biobased materials and the agricultural inputs is approximately $355.28 billion. In capturing a snapshot of the industry’s status today, the report illustrates the rapid evolution of the biobased economy.”

“Renewable Chemical Platforms Building the Biobased Economy” is a one-of-a-kind publication that:

  • Assesses the international biobased economy, profiling 100 companies from 16 countries.

  • Succinctly describes each company’s products, technology, potential markets, partnerships and funding.

  • Highlights the commercialization stage of renewable chemical biorefineries and platform technologies around the world.

  • Illustrates the impact of the rapidly evolving and growing renewable chemical industry on the global manufacturing economy.

Erickson continued, “BIO is a global leader in advocating policies that support commercialization of emerging renewable chemical technologies and companies. We are also the host of the BIO World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology, which each year showcases innovation in renewable chemicals and offers the best opportunities for partnering and business development within the industry.”

The annual BIO World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology will be held July 16 – 19 in Philadelphia at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

All programs at the 2018 BIO World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology are open to members of the media. Complimentary media registration is available to editors and reporters working full time for print, broadcast or web publications with valid press credentials.
